Status update: 2 December 2020

We are pleased to confirm that our campuses and halls of residence are open. Access to our sites is restricted to Oxford Brookes students and staff. Essential visitors are permitted by invitation only.

In the seven days up to 27 November, we have been notified of 8 confirmed cases at Oxford Brookes. Six of these cases were students, two were members of staff.

Of the eight cases, four are attributed to Oxford City, one to Oxfordshire and three to outside of Oxfordshire.

We are continuing to carefully manage the Covid-19 situation in partnership with Public Health England (PHE), which is providing expert guidance on health and infection control measures.

With the lifting of national restrictions, we are pleased to announce that Brookes Sport has reopened under Tier 2:High Alert restrictions. Access to our other buildings remains limited to staff, students and essential invited visitors only.

Face-to-face teaching is continuing as planned up to and including Friday 4 December. After 4 December and for the remainder of Semester 1, teaching for the majority of programmes will be moved online.

To support students to travel home safely for Christmas, an end of semester rapid Covid-19 testing programme began on 28 November at Oxford Brookes campuses. We are also working in conjunction with the Oxford Bus Company to provide a free coach service for students between our halls of residences and Oxford Train Station on 5 and 6 December to assist safe travel during the student travel window.

We continue to support students who are isolating in both halls of residence and private rented accommodation. We do not have any ‘locked down’ halls of residence.

For Oxford Brookes, the top priority through the Covid-19 crisis is the safety and well-being of our whole community.

At present, all of our September-start courses are running with adaptations to fit the current situation and to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.

For an overview of how we're planning for teaching, assessment and student services to be delivered from September, please see our dedicated webpages for the new academic year.

Campus opening times

During Semester 1 2020, opening hours for our Oxford campuses are 7:00am - 9:00pm (Monday-Friday, closed at weekends) in order to allow for enhanced cleaning measures.
